Earth Day in Tahoe
April is Mathematics Awareness Month. (I swear. I Googled it). Yet somehow amid the wild partying and celebratory flash card tournaments, mathematicians have graciously allotted the rest of us a day for which to acknowledge that other scientific phenomenon: Planet Earth. Thus, we have Earth Day.
While the actual day itself has come and gone, Earth Day festivities are ongoing. The Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival kicks off tomorrow night with the Patagonia Wild and Scenic Film Festival. Expect to see thought-provoking short films and documentaries that focus on environmental issues aimed at creating a dialogue about what we can do to protect our planet. There are going to be eco-friendly-themed events all weekend, ranging from speakers, to music, to an Eco Parade, to a "Haute Trash Fashion Show." But note: That's haute, as in haute couture, not hot as in hot pants. Those are two very different shows, my friends.
