Reno Wine Walk (and Roll)

Next to Christmas, my birthday, the eight days of Hanukkah, the first day of summer and Free Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins, I can't think of another day I look forward to more than the third Saturday of each month, known to many as Wine Walk Day.
The Truckee River Wine Walk is an event organized by the Reno Merchant Association that aims to get more people downtown, on the river and inside the small businesses that make up the River Walk. And what better way to explore the community than with wine glass in hand? (Author's note: This is a daytime event, so be sure to occasionally check for red-wine stains above the upper lip and at the corners of the mouth. It's really embarrassing when you run into people and have entire conversations with them, only to find out later that you spent the day looking like a fifth grader on a Kool-Aid binge. Or so my friend told me...).
This is actually a really cool way to visit a lot of the businesses people pass on a daily basis and ask themselves what the heck it is. In fact, not only is this a great social event, it's one of the better, more unique ways to support local artists. Painters, musicians, poets, craftsmen, wine pourers...the gang's all here.
So this Saturday, April 21, for $15 from 2-5, you and your friends (21+) can start at any of the participating locations, grab a glass and have yourself a fine afternoon. Be sure to ask for a map though, because not every business participates, and interrupting a wedding reception with a refill request and that wine mustache of yours is even more embarrassing. Again, my friend...
