Reno: Truckee River Downtown; the RiverWalk

KayakingA brief introduction to one of my favorite places in Reno, the Truckee River, as it flows through the downtown area. I've never been bored there-even in the rain or snow. Winter is a quiet time around the Truckee RiverWalk, but don't let that stop you from taking a stroll and enjoying the ambiance. There's still a lot to do in a one block area: take in a movie at the Century Riverside 12 located on 11 North Sierra Street; enjoy a hot cuppa at the Dreamer's Coffee House & Deli at 17 S. Virginia St. or Java Jungle at 26 W. First St.; watch as the kayakers brave the icy waters as they practice, practice, practice for the upcoming Truckee River Festival; or just walk around the river itself and enjoy the people passing by and the waterfowl dropping in.

Night on the RiverWalkEvening around the river is magical in this area. Lights reflecting off the water like soft jewels, the sound of the river as it makes its way through town. Everything slows down a bit so stopping and gazing over the water, watching the lights, reflecting in your own mind is a relaxing way to end the day-or a breather before heading on to other adventures in the area for some music and dining.

Snow on the RiverWalkIf you are into photography, take along your camera and be ready to catch some interesting shots-even in the winter!

Love the article, but did not get the pictures. Not available. Just boxes. Something wrong somewhere?
