Ski.. . Quick!

Maybe the resorts shouldn't have even opened this season. I looove to ski and have been skiing since I could walk. I have skied all over the US & Canada and although the Tahoe resorts aren't necessarily the best terrain, nothing beats only having to drive 30 minutes to the mountain. Plus, you have your choice of 15 ski areas! Furthermore, if you have lived in ...

Hungry? Great cheap places to eat!

Off the top of my head, here are a few great, yet cheap, places to eat in downtown Reno that aren't chains and aren't in casinos:

Beto's - authentic Mexican food.  Carnitas tostada & carne asada tacos are my favorite.  I also like the Wet Burrito when I'm feeling saucy.  Cheap and tasty.  575 W 5th St  - 775.324.0632.

JJ's Pie Company - right next to Beto's!  Great pizza, calzones, pasta ...

New Bar - The Foxy Olive

One of my favorite things, and sometimes least favorite things, about Reno is that everyone knows everyone.  It can come in handy when you need a cheap drink, want to get into a club within the hour, don't want to pay $60 to ski or need some other sort of hook-up.  If you don't know the bartender, chances are one of your friends does.  I recently went to a bar ...

80's Dancing at Vino's

What's better than dancing the night away to totally tubular eighties?! Vino's plays 80's music all night and has a large dance floor to boogie down. It is a fairly laid-back club with reasonably priced drinks and cover. Personally, I like this bar because you can crimp your hair, cut out the neck of your sweatshirt, sport leg warmers and best of all, dance goofy and get ...

Snow Festival!

That's right its the annual North Lake Tahoe Snow Festival! Take a break from the buffets, or grab some of that money you won on the craps table and head up to North Lake Tahoe.

The festival is a 10 day celebration of fun, families and snow! It was started in 1981 with the goal of helping promote Tahoe's incredible weather and skiing, support and increase local tourism, and showcase the magnificent Lake Tahoe area.

So come ...

Ready for a truly unique experience?

As we lift off into the morning sunrise my first instinct is to clutch the handles for dear life. We reach ten feet faster than I had imagined and as we climb ever higher I have to remind myself that this is no jet airplane. For someone that hates to fly, this contraption only takes a moment to get used to. My grip relaxes as we soar closer to the ...

Reno: Truckee River Downtown; the RiverWalk

KayakingA brief introduction to one of my favorite places in Reno, the Truckee River, as it flows through the downtown area. I've never been bored there-even in the rain or snow. Winter is a quiet time around the Truckee RiverWalk, but don't let that stop you from taking a stroll and enjoying the ambiance. There's still a lot to do in a one block ...
