What these are, are some amazing hot dogs that were made famous in Virginia Beach. (Go, Virginia!!)
Uncle Al's offers 12 different hot dogs, including Chicago, New York, and the Virginia Beach Chili Cheese Dog. You can choose from the distinctive Uncle Al's dogs that have a "snap" when you bite them, or you can choose an all beef skinless. The most expensive dog is the Chicago dog at $3.65.
For those wanting a great grilled sausage, Uncle Al's offers the South Carolina Smoked, New Jersey Hot, and the Italian Sausage with the most expensive being $4.35.
I came to try out the grille because I heard they serve a Chicago style Italian Beef. Tender thin slices of beef served on a French Roll with hot Giardiniera peppers for $6.95. This sandwich alone made the trip worthwhile!
Of course they are kid friendly, though the restaurant is on the small side. The grill and counter dominate the restaurant with a few tables set up along the side. Not a lot of ambience here, so I'd take the food to the park and just relax!
So if you want some great hot dogs and sandwiches make the drive to the SouthWest. This restaurant is about 1 mile off the 215 on Rainbow.
