Dessert Tapas at Solera, in Downtown Minneapolis

Can't decide what you want for dessert? Try Solera's “Dessert Tapas ($9), a smorgasbord of tiny treats that are both gorgeous and delicious. The Horchata shake features miniature balls of chocolate ice cream bobbing inside a cordial glass of rice milk, served with an itty-bitty straw. Satisfy your sweet tooth at Zeno in Uptown, Minneapolis

Zeno Dessert

Sometimes you just need something sweet.

When I'm faced with the overwhelming desire for sugar and chocolate, I don't mess around with regular restaurants where the choices are likely to be slim and boring. I go to the experts at Zeno, one of the Twin Cities' few official dessert bars.

At Zeno, the options are varied and decadent. Whether you're in the mood for ...

Flashback to the 80's at Restaurant Miami in Minneapolis

West Lake Street's newest hot spot is getting lots of attention and attracting huge weekend crowds for its neon-mirrored-Miami-Vice-themed décor and Scarface-inspired drink menu. The venue's appeal is directly related to its kitsch and tackiness, which, when compared to the ever-growing crop of “upscale” lounges in the Twin Cities, is positively refreshing.

In spite of the bar/club feel in this blinking-flashback venue, Restaurant Miami is indeed also a ...

Figlio: A Modern Tradition in Uptown, Minneapolis

Figlio is the center of Calhoun Square; a comforting constant amidst the ephemeral flutter of Uptown's changing storefronts. It's clear to see why: this Uptown establishment serves up some of the best food in town, and they serve it into the wee hours, and it seems as though every time you turn around, it's time for the $2.00 happy hour splendor.

The menu at Figlio is rife with classy renditions ...

Find Classic Burgers at Annie's Parlour In Minneapolis' Dinkytown

Annie
Annie’s Parlor is a classic burger joint, complete with red-and-white checkered tablecloths. The burgers are also classically wonderful. Old standbys like the California burger and mushroom and Swiss burger can be dressed up or down by adding one of a variety of cheeses or swapping white buns for wheat. The smoked cheddar goes especially well on the bacon cheeseburger. Their veggie ...

Band Box Diner, a well-loved time capsule in Minneapolis

This morning, I trudged through the snow to the Band Box Diner at 729 S. 10th St. in Minneapolis, MN for a homemade-style veggie omelette and several cups of the special bold coffee blend. Even though I’ve been there a million times, I never get tired of its greasy standard, nostalgic ambiance and myriad characters.
The 1930s-era prefabricated building is wedged cozily into a narrow, peninsular strip in the ...
