Top Ten "Romantic" Restaurants in Greater Muskegon
Valentine's Day is tomorrow and top on many couples list is to go out to dinner. Here are my top ten choices for "romantic" dining in the Muskegon area.
10. Hobo's in North Muskegon. Sounds strange for a romantic meal but it is nice for a more casual yet romantic night out. They specialize in soups, stews and burgers. Hefty portions and good desserts. Very economical as well.
9. Kirby's Grill in downtown Grand Haven. Cozy, intimate environment and good service. Good soups, salads and desserts. Entrees okay.
8. Harbor Steakhouse inside the Holiday Inn in downtown Muskegon. Great for Valentine's Day because of the lovely fireplace and views of downtown. They also offer great holiday menu specials and deals. The service can sometimes be poor and hours seem inconsistent so be sure to call ahead.
7. Rafferty's Restaurant on Muskegon Lake in downtown Muskegon. This restaurant is #1 for ambience (lovely lake view and great decor), but makes #7 because the food is mediocre at best.
6. Scales Fish House & Steaks on White Lake in Whitehall, Michigan. Makes the list because of the view and fresh fish.
5. The Hearthstone Restaurant on Glade Street. Very romantic environment and excellent menu selections. Service is very good. Some parts of the restaurant need a little updating but other than that this is a great choice for Valentine's Day. The prices are also very reasonable.
4. Jack's Lounge inside the Holiday Inn of Spring Lake/Grand Haven. My husband and I have spent a couple of anniversaries/Valentine's Days (we were married on Valentine's Day) at Jack's. Lovely water views and fancy cuisine. It can be a little pricey but worth it.
3. Johnny Carino's Country Italian Restaurant on Harvey Street near the mall. This restaurant is high on my list because of the ambience, great food and good service. Small booths with curtains for some privacy make you feel as though you are in Italy. This restaurant did not make #1 because they allow for smoking (which is sometimes a problem for me), and it can be quite crowded at times.
2. Snub Harbor in downtown Grand Haven (about 10 miles south of Muskegon). Beautiful lake views, soft lighting, romantic music - makes for an awesome night. Many menu choices including great salads and desserts. Was a close run for #1 on my list.
1. City Cafe in the Frauenthal Theater makes #1 on my list because of the ambience (romantic lighting, a colorful waterfall), great food and reasonable prices.
