The Muskegon Jaycees Snowfest Begins Today -
This 5 day event begins today with a banquet honoring young people (between the ages of 21 and 40) for their commitment and service to the Muskegon community. The banquet will be held downtown at the Holiday Inn beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Tomorrow (Wed., Jan. 31), is Trivia Night at Racquets Downtown Grill on Western Avenue. Put together a team of 4-6 to compete. Winners can choose the school and/or school department of their choice to be recipients of a $200 prize.
Thursday, Feb. 1, is the Bachelor/Bachelorette auction held at the Beardsley Theater (also on Western Avenue). Some local "celebrities" will be up for auction (like the co-owner of our new arena football team), and participants can bid on dates with these singles. Tickets to attend the event are $5 and can be purchased at www.starticketsplus.com. Afterwards, the local band Elixa will perform in an outdoor beverage tent (heated of course) and the party is planned to go until midnight.
Friday, Feb. 2, local band Delicious will perform in the tent from 8 until midnight.
Saturday, Feb. 3, is snow volleyball (this should be a blast) on the streets of Western Avenue (in front of Raquest) beginning at 8:30 a.m. To ensure a spot, be sure to register in advance by e-mailing Morgan @ - mkirwin@gfs.com. Later is the "Battle of the Bowls", a chili, soup & stew cook-off. Guests can stop by the LC Walker Arena Annex from noon to 4 p.m. to sample entries from over 11 local restaurants. Awards will be given. Later that night, local band "Number Two" will perform in the beverage tent from 9 p.m. to midnight. There is a $5 cover charge.
