Top 3 Shopping Malls in the Lansing Area

Isn’t it strange how some things you await with so much impatience just come and go in the blink of an eye. For months now, stores all over town have been displaying shelves overflowing with Christmas ornaments, Holiday candies and other glittery decorations and gift ideas.

Yet it’s already the day after Christmas as wrapping paper is piling up in the trash and kids are proudly showing off their new sports shoes at school.

Time goes by too fast when you are having fun. So now that Christmas is over what is the next event you have to be ready for? Most likely for us all it will be New Year’s eve. Just another good excuse to go shopping, to get together with friends and family and dress up your house as well as yourself.

Although shopping malls are usually not the best places to get good bargains, you will find at that in the Lansing area, a lot of malls will house department stores such as J.C. Penney, Sears, TJ Max or Younkers where you can be sure to find the best values!

The top 3 shopping malls in the Lansing area are the Meridian Mall located in Okemos, the Lansing Mall and the Eastwood Towne Mall in Lansing.

The Meridian Mall at the Lansing and Okemos city limit is located 1982 W. Grand River Ave, Lansing. With over 120 stores and a 500 seat food court, you can be sure to find what you are looking for. My favorite stores there are JC Penney, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, Payless Shoes and Bed Bath & Beyond. One good tip about Bed Bath & Beyond is that if like me you are receiving in the mail coupons for Bed Bath & Beyond and you happen to forget to take your coupon with you to the store, just keep the receipt and go back there some other day presenting the receipt and the coupon you had forgotten to take with you. The store will refund you in cash what you would have saved with the coupon. It’s good to know if you are making a big purchase and have at home a 20% off coupon.

Aside from great home-decorating stores and more clothing stores that you could ever imagine, the Meridian Mall also has great restaurants to welcome you after hours of shopping for a relaxing lunch or dinner. One of my favorite is Ruby Tuesday’s Fettuccini Alfredo or Cajun chicken salad. It is the best!

You probably have understood by now that the Meridian Mall is my favorite shopping Mall. But if you don’t have time to drive there and can settle for a smaller mall, the Lansing Mall located 5330 W. Saginaw Hwy in Lansing will work perfectly for you. TJ Max just happens to be a recent addition to the mall where you will find brand name clothing or linens for much lower prices. After browsing through Younkers, Macy’s or Schuler Books, you can relax at their food court or choose to go have dinner at one of their multiple restaurants such as Red Cedar Grill or Houlihans.

My last pick would be the East wood Towne Center. This is a strip mall that you would probably enjoy more in the summer time simply because of the cold temperatures of the Michigan winter. The best feature of the Eastwood Towne Center is their various places to eat at. If you are in the mood for some Asian food, PF Chang will hit the spot. Care for some Italian instead? How about Bravo restaurant with its delicious traditional Italian cooking.

Even if you are not in the mood for seafood, you will love the Fish Market restuarant where its mouth watering extensive menu will definitely have something to satisfy your taste buds.

Now that the New Year is offering you a new opportunity to go shopping, take your pick of which mall you would like to spend hours browsing through or even as we French say for some simple "window-licking"!
