Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend in Grand Rapids

Ice Skating

1. 3rd Annual Outhouse 500 in Coopersville just 20 miles outside of Grand Rapids.  Appropriately named, the featured event will be an "outhouse" race.  Many teams will compete to see who can get their outhouse over the finish line first.  In addition, there will be a chili cook-off, beer tent, luau and euchre tournament. The Outhouse 500 team parade begins at 10 a.m. followed by the chili cook-off.  All events will take place on Main Street in historic downtown Coopersville.

2. Winter is leaving soon - we hope. Dreaming of summer already? Then stop by the West Michigan Motorcycle Show at DeVos Place and make your plans to ride in the wind this summer. The event runs Saturday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., & Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Activities will include fashion shows, custom built bikes, dancing girls and several exhibitors. For more information visit the DeVos Place website.

3. Red Carpet Ready - Grand Rapids' Oscar Party at the Celebration Cinema North on Sunday starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for students, $40 for non-students and $60 for couples. Stroll down the red carpet, rub elbows with celebrity "look alikes", and watch a live broadcast of the Oscars in Celebration's largest theater.

4. It might be a great weekend for ice skating as the temperatures are in the low- mid 30's. Enjoy ice skating at Rosa Park Circle this weekend for only $1. The rink is open from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. on Friday, noon - 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday.

5. For the young party folks only. Actor Columbus Short from the film "Stomp the Yard" is hosting a party at the Orbit Room (2525 Lake Eastbrook) on Saturday night beginning at 10 p.m. First 100 ladies get in free.
