Formal Mourning Period for President Gerald R. Ford Has Ended

President Gerald R. Ford was referred to as a "son of Grand Rapids", and this community was proud and honored that he considered Grand Rapids home.
Flags have flown half-staff at the White House, the Capitol and federal buildings, as well as at many state and local governmental buildings for the past 30 days. Now officials at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential museum are prepared to retire their flag in a ceremony involving the Boy Scouts on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Once retired the flag will be presented to the chairman of the Ford Foundation.
In addition, the Ford Museum still welcomes the public to come and sign Ford's condolence book until 5 p.m. on Thursday.
