The Best Mac & Cheese in the City
I realize mac & cheese can be a very hot button issue, but for my money the best mac & cheese in town can be found at Silvertone Bar & Grille located downtown on Bromfield Street. The restaurant itself is tiny and always crowded, but hey, it's crowded for a reason, right?
Silvertone has a vintage lounge feel, and the fact that it is slightly underground only serves to add to its charm. While you are waiting for a table (which, admittedly, you probably will have to), try out the cocktail menu. Nothing goes better with mac & cheese than a tangy Sidecar!
So what makes the mac & cheese so good at Silvertone? It's the fact that it is so simple. This is good, old fashioned macaroni and cheese, nothing fancy. The emphasis is on the cheese, and as far as I'm concerned, the more cheese the better. Plus, a small mixed green salad with a viniagrette is served on the side, the acid in which cuts the heavyness of the mac & cheese quite nicely. All in all I give it an A+
