Davis Square: Cafe redux Part II

Welcome to the second installment of my two-part series discussing the cafe options at Davis Square, Somerville. The first part of the series was posted a few days ago (here's a link: Davis Square Cafe Redux Part I) and discussed cafes that are primarily eateries. Today I'm dishing the dish on the coffeehouses around Davis Square.

Diesel Cafe: Elm Street. Hours are great- open early and late every day. Good beverages, okay service, Good food and snack options, and the only coffeehouse I know that offers both a pool table AND a photo booth. This place is huge and there is a lot of seating, but as it is also very popular it is frequently hard to snag a seat anyway. I like it a lot anyway, good place to socialize (great GREAT people watching- and during warmed months they open the doors to the street). Hear they are opening a new location soon at Union Square, but that's a little ways off still.... I highly recommend the hot chocolate (get the homemade whipped cream topping too!)

Starbucks: Elm Street. Right across the street from Diesel, Starbucks is also centrally located in Davis and offers outdoor seatinG during the summer months. Clearly I don't really have to discuss what they offer because if you have stumbled upon this website you have most likely stumbled upon a Starbucks or two in your day as well. But, what I like about the Starbucks at Davis is that the seating is comfy and they have a fireplace, which makes it all the more cozy.

True Grounds: Broadway at Ball Square. This place takes a little finding, but technically it is still in the Davis Square area. It's about a 10 minute walk from Davis up College Ave, right on Broadway at the Powderhouse Rotary. I wish it were open later, think it still closes at 7, but it is just what you want in a coffeehouse! They have good sandwiches and breakfast, good drinks, all in a nice, friendly, modern space.
