Boston: Quest Eternal

The sky was pearl blue with white marble swirls. It was sunny in Boston with a hint of an early spring if not for the slicing, icy winds. It was February, 2007. I was walking through Back Bay, down Princeton St. I had been shooting pictures that day throughout photo-friendly Boston with my 35mm SLR.

At the base of the Prudential Building I discovered a bronze nude, about 10 to 12 ...

Boston: Then and Now

My father nudged me on the shoulder, stirring me awake with a brusque, marine-like command to wake up.

"Wake up! Let's go. Up and at 'em!" he barked.

With barely-awake, squinted eyes I peered through the passenger window of our '85 Buick Regal, noting the dark red brick of Stratton Hall - my freshman home at Tufts University.

"I like brick...," I thought to myself, unable to muster a more ...

Boston- Romance at Sea

Don't know where to take your significant other this summer?  If you like funky martinis, lively music, good food and a fantastic view, then look no further than The Odyssey.  The catch?  You need to have decent sea legs.

Set sail on an Odyssey Cruise and you will be treated to a night of elegant romance.  Watch the sun set as it dips behind the buildings of Boston, sip a cocktail ...

Boston's Holocaust Memorial

Boston's cultural and social contributions are wide ranging and numerous, and although not a usual tourist destination, the Boston's Holocaust memorial is well worth the visit to anyone interested in history or art.  It is heart-wrenching, one of the more emotionally charged memorials I've seen (and I've been to D. C. several times, walked the National Mall).  So this is not the ideal "date" place to visit, but it is memorable ...

Franklin Park Zoo ~ Name that Baby!

Franklin Park Zoo

94 years strong, the Franklin Park Zoo offers something new each time I visit.  Located in Boston's historic Franklin Park, the 72-acre attraction entertains the child in everyone.

Greeted by the towering black iron gates, once inside this majestic park your curiosity of what lies within beckons your call.  For the smallest of visitors the park acclimates the tots by introducing them slowly to the animals by offering a farm petting zoo.

Be sure to fuel your ...

MIT Stata Center, Boston - A Sight to Behold!

Off the cuff fun - found in the most unusual and unsuspecting places ~

Allow me share with you one of what will become many;  Off the beaten path, around the corner and adventurous places in Boston!

While attending a weekend conference focused on Women, Action and the Media located within MIT Stata Center in Cambridge, I found a site not likely to be listed on any tourist map.

Begin your journey by parking in the always ...

Uncommon Boston Common

Boston Common is anything but common. Dating back to 1634, the Common was originally set aside for common pasturing of live stock, and until 1817 was also the site of public hangings. Since livestock was banned from grazing in 1830, Boston Common has been a public recreation area. It's quite large (though not near as large as New York's Central Park), and on any given spring, summer, or fall day ...

Spend the Day on Charles Street

One of my favorite things about Boston in the Spring is Charles Street. Known as "The Flat" of Beacon Hill, this street offers some of the best shopping and eating in the city. The quaint street will make you feel as though you were dropped into a history book and are playing the part of an aristocrat in a historic city.

The posh gift shops and boutiques on Charles Street will ...

Burdick’s Chocolate Café—A Taste of Europe in Harvard Square

Burdick

When you’re in Harvard Square looking for a pick-me-up, a stop at Burdick’s Chocolate at 52-D Brattle Street--the best continental patisserie and chocolate bar this side of Vienna—is the ticket.

“A very European experience,” my friend called it, as we sat sipping rich dark hot chocolate and sampling hand-made chocolates that were a delight to the eye and palate--simple, ...

Tealuxe – A Taste of Tea’s Infinite Variety

Tealuxe-The Cafe for Tea Lovers

In Britain, the tea shoppe has always been something of an institution, but the concept is something of a Johnny-come-lately for Americans, who seem comparatively unaware of the joys of tea, as well as the seminal role its tiny leaves played in the nation’s nascent fight for independence.

With tea’s many evolutions through its ...
