McCormick & Schmick's
seafood restaurant, two locations: 34 Columbus Ave, Boston, 02116 - (617) 482-3999, and 1 Faneuil Hall Market Pl, Boston, 02109 - (617) 720-5522.
I’ve returned from another satisfying meal at McCormick & Schmick’s. I was greeted by the polite hostess who led me to my seat upstairs with a view looking out onto Faneuil Hall. I like the green motif inside the restaurant, it adds to the fantastic décor of oak paneled walls and candle light to make it feel warm and inviting.
For the appetizer of a sample plate with various types of oysters, they were succulent plain, but spicier when coupled with the horseradish and cocktail sauce mixture. Each bite relished in my mouth, and to my even greater surprise, I didn’t bite down on any bits of shell; I thank the chef. Every time I order the oysters, they smell and taste so fresh.
For dinner, I ordered the lobster roll. There are a wide variety of seafood, and poultry and meat for those who don’t particularly enjoy seafood, on the menu, but I chose a simple dish. Yet the chefs put such care into their work, that no matter how simple the dish, the presentation, and most importantly the taste, are unsurpassed. The plate came with handmade coleslaw (I can tell the difference whether or not it is from a store bought jar) and a side of extra-crispy potato chips. The lobster meat consisted of no claws or knuckles – it was all tail meat with a light covering of mayonnaise lying on a bed of shredded lettuce. Eating the lobster roll was fulfilling enough, but the chips and coleslaw were too tasty not to eat.
For the overall evaluation, the atmosphere, the politeness and attentiveness of the wait staff, the presentation of the food, the taste, the portion size, I think McCormick & Schmick’s gets a 9 out of 10.
