Learn Something New...for Free!



Sometimes while vacationing with children, it seems all you do is swipe your credit card. Beginning on July 2nd, you can enjoy a free program offered by the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum.

Six mornings a week, beginning at 10:30 am, head down to the famous shark display on the boardwalk near the inlet. Take a seat and learn something new.

On Mondays, the Ocean City Beach Patrol will demonstrate the newest lifesaving techniques. beach law and tools and techniques the Beach Patrol uses to save lives.

On Tuesdays, a program entitled "O.C.B.C. - Ocean City Before Condominiums," given by Museum Curator, Suzanne Hurley, will tell how Ocean City changed from a small fishing village to the beach resort it has become today. A special emphasis will be on the women that helped change the city.

Wednesdays, will feature the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary giving hands-on instruction on how to tie all kinds of nautical knots.

All you ever wanted to know about sharks will be the program offered on Thursdays. Sandy Hurley, Assistant Curator of the museum will also tell the stories of the trophy fishes displayed in front of the museum.

Friday's program is geared towards children ages 8 to 14 years. Experience what it was like to serve in the United States Life-Saving Service, now known as the Coast Guard. Learn what skills were needed and at the end of the program, children can apply to be "Junior Surfmen."

On Saturday mornings, everyone is invited inside the museum to watch the marine critters eat their breakfast.
