Sand Sculptures by Randy Hofman
For over 25 years, Randy Hofman has been sculpting large-as-life religious scenes in the sand next to the Boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland, from Spring to Fall. When he first started creating his sand sculptures, he use to do a new scene every day. Now he uses a mixture of glue and water that he sprays on the scenes. The mixture keeps them intact for a week or more. Each scene takes between 6 to 18 hours to create.
Besides his hands, his only other sculpting tool is a white plastic knife used for picking crabs, provided by a nearby restaurant, the Mug and Mallet. The Plim Plaza Hotel provides water and electricity.

USA Today named Hofman's sculptures a “Must See” attraction. Hofman is an ordained minister and views the sculptures as his ministry. Be sure to stop and see these amazing and inspiring works of art. You'll find them at 2nd Street and the Boardwalk.
