Ocean City Beach Patrol Employment Opportunity

NO CERTIFICATION OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!!!

The Ocean City Beach Patrol will resume off-site pre-employment physical skills evaluations on Sunday, February 25. Pre-employment physical skills evaluations are being held at Salisbury University's Maggs Gym. There are no pre-certification requirements and experience in ocean rescue is not necessary. Those meeting qualifying standards will be appointed to a Beach Patrol Surf Rescue Academy, which is conducted in Ocean City. Candidates will have a choice of attending one of several academies held between mid May and June, where all training and certifications are provided while being paid $12.61 per hour ($13.72 after probation).

Registration and testing will begin at 11 a.m. Look for the Beach Patrol sign! Candidates will swim 500m, run 400m, perform simulated swimming rescues, and demonstrate the capacity to run fast in timed sprint races. All water-related activities will take place in an indoor pool with all running activities outside.

Although pre-registration is not required, it is helpful for planning. To pre-register or for additional information, interested men and women 17 and older can contact the beach patrol at ocbp@ococean.com. If 17, a legal guardian must attend and remain at the test during the entire process. Acceptable proof of age is required of all candidates.

Interested candidates who are unable to attend this pre-employment physical skills evaluation may take advantage of future opportunities around the region.
