Baltimore Summer Festivals

If you're like me, summer time means festival season.  Here are some highlights of several festivals for this summer.

Baltimore Pride: June 16, 17.  Saturday on the streets of Mt Vernon for a parade and Sunday in Druid Hill Park for food, live music, picnics, and more.   Drag queen shows, queen of pride competetion, live performances, so much fun. I have been the past 3 years and have loved every minute.  Saturday is more for the party crowd with the parade and drinking, whereas Sunday is more family oriented - picnic in the park with music.

Greek Festival: June 8,9, 10 at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. I haven't ever been to this one but if you like to celebrate your heritage then this one is for you.

Improv Festival: August 2-5 at the Theatre Project on Preston St.  Will include both performances and workshops.  This is the first Improv festival in Baltimore. Should be fun!

Honfest: June 9-10 on 36th St in Hampden. A unique Baltimore experience.  Tons of food and fun. Don't forget to do your hair up right!

Virgin Festival: August 4-5 at Pimlico Race Course.  Featured Performers - 311, Wu Tang Clan, Amy Winehouse, Modest Mouse, Crystal Method, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, The Police, and Regina Spektor.  General admission for two days is $175 or you can buy a one day ticket for $97.50.  Sponsored by Virgin Mobile.  Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
