Java Brewing Company
Louisville has no shortage of coffee houses. Coffee culture took off here in the 90s and never looked back. Local powerhouse Heine Bros. has locations all across town, Starbucks is as ubiquitous as anywhere else and single location independent shops are sprinkled throughout. Someday I'll do a roundup on my favorite coffee houses but today I just want to talk about Frankfort Avenue's Java Brewing Company. It's a bit different from other local coffee houses in that it's also a wine bar. Truthfully I don't really care about the wine aspect of things. For me it's all about the coffee and Java Brewing company has the right stuff in that regard. Offering a dark and light roast of the day as well as all the usual espresso suspects and frothy frozen and blended coffee based drinks you'd expect. I mention the wine part only because it makes Java Brewing Company an excellent choice for after dinner, either business or pleasure, with a nice choice between coffee or wine for your after dinner beverage.
The decor is relaxed but more grown up than many of the coffee shops around town. The patio area includes an alcove almost completely surrounded by trees that offers an abundance of atmosphere and privacy for conversation. All in all Java Brewing Company is equally relaxing on Sunday morning as it is after dinner late on a Friday evening.
