This weekend, August 2-5, Louisville is playing host to the 38th Annual Street Rod Nationals.
The world’s biggest street rod event (more than 11,000 pre-‘49 vehicles registered in 2006) is produced by the National Street Rod Association® (NSRA) and returns to Louisville, Kentucky, in 2007. In addition to being the biggest street rod event in the world, the NSRA Street Rod Nationals also has the distinction of being the biggest ...

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail Starts in Louisville

This past week The Courier-Journal described a new urban addition to Kentucky's bourbon trail. Basically we've got so many fine establishments serving a wide variety of the great bourbons produced here in the bluegrass that spending time in Louisville enjoying bourbon is a great alternative to only using Louisville as the "where I'm lying my head at night" home base.

I don't know exactly which 12 locations in Louisville ...

IdeaFestival hits Louisville again, September 13-15

I have to admit, the thought of an idea festival makes me crazy insane jealous.  I wish I had enough good ones to warrant going and showing off.

Who knows?  Maybe by September, I will.

If you're planning to be downtown in this loveliest week of September, then follow follow follow your nose to a batch of fascinating new esoteric or down-to-earth ruminations.  No Mensa card necessary!

Gifts to Take Home From A Visit to Kentucky

Recently several out of state family members were in nearby Bardstown for a wedding. A couple of them asked what kind of Kentucky gift could they take back to the neighbor who was watering their plants or the boss that gave them the day off. Since we were in Bardstown my first thought (and truth be told this is often my first thought in response to these kind of ...

Java Brewing Company

Louisville has no shortage of coffee houses. Coffee culture took off here in the 90s and never looked back. Local powerhouse Heine Bros. has locations all across town, Starbucks is as ubiquitous as anywhere else and single location independent shops are sprinkled throughout. Someday I'll do a roundup on my favorite coffee houses but today I just want to talk about Frankfort Avenue's Java Brewing Company. It's a bit ...
