The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers Offers Luxury and Location
As a popular tourist destination, our fair city features some incredibly fine hotels. The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers is one of these hotels—and elegance and luxury are among the perks this location offers.
The Sheraton is right along the water, which makes for some stunning vistas of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River—although when I stayed there my room was on the other side and my view was of the parking lot. Still, the location is fantastic and I did get some amazing Chicago skyline views to remind me of the beauty of the city. It’s close to the Art Institute, Navy Pier, the Loop, and (most importantly for my needs) Millennium Park. My friend and I used the Sheraton as a base to travel to and from the three-day music festival Lollapalooza. We loved being able to walk back to air-conditioned convenience once we were done with being hot and tired and thirsty.
The décor of the Sheraton is modern and first-class—the lobby is spacious and clean, and after a long day we very much enjoyed relaxing with drinks in the adjoining lounge. The rooms are what you’d expect from a Sheraton—big picture windows with screened shades, large plush beds with comfortable sheets and big loungers that are absolutely perfect for reading, plus evening turn-down service. The bathrooms were posh and beautifully appointed. Our room was not huge, but it was reasonably priced. We had a mini-bar too, and herein lies my only criticism of the hotel—my friend kept putting new bottles of water in the mini-bar fridge to keep them cold and after a visit from housekeeping the bottles would all disappear. As we were spending all weekend at an outdoor concert in the middle of a Chicago summer (we're talking 90+ degrees), this was a minor issue.
I also had trouble parking in the hotel lot, which was smallish, but drove a block to find parking and that was no big deal. Otherwise, the Sheraton provided a very pleasant stay. There’s a steakhouse, a bar, a coffee spot, a burger place and a lounge, but the location provides many fantastic places to eat and visit within walking distance. The hotel has many other amenities we did not take advantage of, like wireless Internet access in the lobby, a health club, huge ballrooms, an airy ballroom promenade, airport shuttle and $15 valet parking. You can find packages starting in the lower $100s per night, but book early. The Sheraton Hotel & Towers can fill up fast during popular times of the year.
The Sheraton is located at 301 East North Water Street in Chicago, Illinois. For more information on stays and amenities, check out www.sheratonchicago.com.
