PART 1:
In order to totally enjoy the Sighs, Sights and Sounds of Chicago or any experience at any place or any time, it’s vitally necessary to be and keep healthy. When there is a lot to do (and Stress and Anxiety set in) whether it’s at home; at work; in a new or different environment or in even preparing to go somewhere new, your Diet is of supreme importance. Once all the details are ironed out and after Touchdown (when you settle in to explore that new City be it for a vacation or conference), then Splurging is allowable, predictable and expected. But in the meantime, it’s time to take care and follow the proper Applications and Preparations.
Until your Arrival in Chicago or any other Location you plan to visit, February is an ideal month to FORTIFY yourself for your Adventures throughout the year. By now, your January Resolutions may have been forgotten or broken, but effective February Patterns can set the Pace for the rest of your Year, yielding the best results possible. Only a few Principles are needed. Once those are rooted and taken seriously, the rest comes easily enough.
LISTEN UP:
As most people know, Chicago Weather is sometimes rough. Summer Temperatures can reach over 100. Winter Temperatures can plummet to Minus 20 and below. Knowing this Climatological Quirk, Chicagoans keep as healthy as they do by one simple rule. Living on one of the Great Lakes – Lake Michigan by name, We are involved in a variety of Sports as biking, running, jogging, roller-blading and boating as well as workouts at local gyms. Our pro-athletes perform in all other sporting and heart-healthy events. The average Person – like the Athlete – has to take care of his/her Diet. There’s no way around it.
After all, as Dentists say: “Be true to your Teeth or they will be false to you.”
Take care of your Body or it will run out of fuel and begin to deteriorate. Deterioration is bad; whether it’s a person, pet or a building. Constant Care, Upkeep and Exercise are needed on a daily basis. Running out of steam, your Get-Up-and-Go (as in Get-Up-and-Go Shopping for those who are Shopaholics) will get-up and leave, not allowing you to enjoy the Wonders Chicago has to offer.
Q: So how is this exactly done?
A: By eating wisely and healthily. The Focus is on one’s Daily Diet, Snacks included. Whether a person is a conscientious Vegan or ardent Carnivore, eating your Fruits & Vegetables is mandatory. Eating the allocated amounts of all the colorful Vegetables & Fruits that are now at our marketplaces year-round, will turn you into a well-running machine, one that can think, do, go and shop while exploring all the Spots that make Chicago a Visitor’s Haven & Heaven.

THE ADIE: ANOTHER DELICIOUS INCLUSION EFFECT:
Farmer’s Markets have become extremely popular in Chicago the last decade as Chicagoans continually look after their Diets. FMs (as they are called) cater to those living in the Inner City (in the Loop area and other Neighborhoods) where Farmers and Entrepreneurs set up tables and stands to sell flowers, honey, organic products, homemade breads, rolls, jellies and an endless variety of custom products. Renting space for a few hours during the week, they distribute their goods/items not usually carried or available to Inner City Dwellers at conventional grocers. Quaint, homey and friendly are the correct adjectives that are affixed to these Farmer’s Markets. Adding a Touch of ‘The Country’ and a Euro-Style to City Living have made these Farmer’s Market extremely popular and highly anticipated as the balmier Weather streams into Chicago.
The 35 Produce Stores and Stands as well as (most of) the Farmer Markets are located in Chicago Neighborhoods, not in the Tourist Trap (Districts) of ‘Chicago Proper.’ It is here where the longtime Chicago Resident or Visitor will obtain Healthy Foods at reasonable prices and gain a closer View and better Perspective of the People that make Chicago tick. This Win-Win Outcome puts a wide smile on everyone’s face and good health into every Body.
NEVER UNDERSCORE THE VALUE OF A PEACH, PEAR, POMEGRANATE, POTATO OR PUMPKIN:
Fruits and Vegetables are as healthy as can be. Not only do they provide the vital daily nutrients that are needed, but also psychologically, they furnish a Positive Outlook and Frame of Mind. This Mentality concludes that if Fruits & Vegetables are eaten, then the Guilt Aspect of Eating something that’s too caloric, fattening, high-in-cholesterol or sinfully delicious (that is usually not equated to proper eating) will be combated. Personal Stigmas are better left at home while vacationing, until they can be thoroughly dissolved.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS: ‘Getting your Fruits & Veggies on’ meets a Stamp of Approval with every Bite consumed. How Chicagoans play – anyone anywhere (for that matter) – always begins with a Balanced Diet. This simple Formula then lets Holidays and Excursions to be enjoyed with Optimal Health as being the Key Factor in all your Decisions. Eating properly will aid in making your Vacations a Dream come true, bite-by-bite, whether it’s a shorter Month like February or a longer one.
