Summer Festivals in Chicago
The #1 reason that I can't stand to miss a summer in Chicago is the assortment of (usually) free, outdoor festivals that take place all summer long. From art to music to rare antiques to food, a Chicago summer can be a feast for your senses. Here is a short list of some of the Windy City's most famous fests, along with when and where you can find them this summer (in order of appearance):
1. The Chicago Antique Market: An Urban Treasure Hunt
May 26 & 27
1300 Block of West Randolph
2. Chicago Gospel Music Festival: Come sing the praises of this public showcase, featuring some of the best Gospel music in the city and beyond. If you leave without a smile on your face, there is something wrong with you.
June 1-3
Millenium Park
3. Chicago Blues Festival: Come see why Chicago sings the blues at this annual showcase.
June 7-10
Grant Park
4. Fiestas Puertorriqueñas: Possibly the liveliest, loudest, biggest party of the year, brought to you by Chicago's vibrant Puerto Rican community.

5. Chicago Pride Fest & Parade: Coming out can be great fun, even if you are straight.

6. Chicago Country Music Festival: This year features the great Kenny Rogers!

7. Taste of Chicago: Chicago loves to eat, and at this festival you'll see why. Sample some local classics all in one location. The musical line-up this year includes the Black Crowes, John Mayer and Lyfe Jennings. Don't miss the best fireworks show in town on the 3rd!

8. Pitchfork Music Festival: An annual festival showcasing some of independent music's best bands on multiple stages.
