Longhorn Settles In The Southside

Bulls on Parade

The Longhorn has made its way to Chicagoland all the way from Atlanta, GA. The steakhouse that is. Longhorn is located on 95th and Pulaski, in Oak Lawn, a southwest suburb of Chicago- just a few blocks from us southsiders. For the rest of you, I can offer three amazing reasons to make this trip.

The first being the food. Whether you are in the mood for steak, chicken, seafood, or a few appetizers, you are sure to find something. Personally, I can recommend at least one dish from each of those categories. I’ll start with steak- the sirloin was delicious with just enough seasoning. I enjoyed it with a baked sweet potato and Caesar salad. I have also eaten the Sierra Chicken which is probably my favorite. Tender chicken breasts served with vegetables and rice and topped with a tomato basil salsa. The grilled shrimp skewers were very good, and the Wild West Shrimp starter was a great addition to our meal. My last advice on food- save room for desert.

What made my experience even more enjoyable was the quick friendly service. Our server was kind and personable as was the manager who came to our table to personally introduce himself and thank us for coming.

If I haven’t persuaded you yet, I have only one word. Margaritas. The Longhorn menu offers a variety of margaritas as well as other drinks. Right now, they are promoting the Blackberry Peach Margarita, aka, the best margarita ever made. I’m not sure how long this will be offered, so don’t wait too long.

Everything is reasonably priced. An average steak dinner runs about $20. A table for two with an appetizer and two drinks a piece should expect to pay around $85 before tip. If I’ve done my job at get you there once, I’m sure you will find more than enough reasons to keep going back.
