Celebrity Sightings at Gen Art Chicago (independent) Film Festival, June 26-30

All this week, the Gen Art Chicago Film Festival will bring to Chicago a series of independent films - and some of their stars, too.

If you're in it for the celebrity elbow-rubbing, come see Heather Graham on Tuesday, June 26; Alan Cumming on Friday, June 29, or a number of other actors and filmmakers during the festival.

If you're in it for the films, you can catch Broken, a film about a haunted L.A. waitress; Crime Fiction, a locally made film about an unhappy Chicago textbook editor whose successful girlfriend's mysterious death could get his work in print; Joshua, a film about the psychological destruction of a boy prodigy's dream family; Suffering Man's Charity, a black comedy about a con man and his victim; Numb, a film about a man's quest to defeat existential crisis with psychiatry and alternative therapy; and all the short films that accompany each of these films.

After-parties will be held at the Notebook Nature Museum (2430 North Cannon Dr.) on Tuesday, Castaways (1603 North Lake Shore Dr.) on Wednesday, Manor (642 North Clark Street) on Thursday, Blue Water Grill (520 North Dearborn Street) on Friday and The Underground (56 West Illinois Street) on Saturday.

Tickets cost $20 and cover the film and two-hour after-party.
