Woodfield-- Shopper's Mecca
I recently moved from Minneapolis and spent a lot of time at the Mall of America, but did you know that the biggest mall in the United States by retail space is actually Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL? And in my opinion, Woodfield deserves as much recognition as a tourist shopping mecca as the MOA or State Street/Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago.
What are you looking to buy? Because chances are you can buy it within the 1/2 mile radius of chain stores that surround Woodfield. Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor (until its demise next year), Macy's, Sears, and JC Penney anchor this mall. It holds all the typical stores that you expect to see in the mall-- Bannana Republic, Gap, JCrew, Express, and yes it does have both H&M and Forever 21.
However, its the shopping across the street in Woodfield Square that will make the budget shopper drool. Marshall's, Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy, and Off Fifth, the Sak's 5th Avenue outlet store. Here you will find amazing deals on your favorite name brand clothes.
Streets of Woodfield round out the major attractions of the shopping destination. Here you will find Carson Pirie Scott, Ann Taylor Loft, Game Works, a 20 screen movie theater, and numerous restaurants, coffeee shops, and speciality stores.
So if you prefer not to brave the city traffic in from O'Hare or are meeting with groups in the suburbs, I strongly reccommend visting Woodfield. It will live up to your expectations of what a truly great shopping experience should be.
