Nico's-great fish

I heard about this place last month and today was driving by so we decided to give it a try. It was great!

It is located in pier 38 right off Nimitz Highway. Pretty easy to get to actually. Nimitz Highway hugs the coastline from the airport to Waikiki and if you're going that direction, it's right after you pass the Young Brothers sign on your right. ...

Keneke's the place for delicious plate lunches and more

Last summer I was riding the bus through Waimanalo with a coworker.  She pointed to a small white building that didn't look like much and told me the food there was really good.  I don't get to that part of the island often.  A couple months later I was driving around and rememberd the little place my coworker reccommended.  I wanted to stop by and see if it was as ...

Happy Hour in Downtown Honolulu

Since my friends and I all work in downtown Honolulu, we are always searching for a good happy hour.   We've tried several different places and these are our recommendations depending on the mood we are in:

To people watch and for a hipper atmosphere, we head on over to Indigo's.  Because of it's close proximity to the financial district of Honolulu and Chinatown, Indigo's is always bustling with business people and students from nearby HPU.  It's a great place ...

Genki Sushi Ala Moana-pretty good but be careful!

If you're shopping at the Ala Moana Center and have a craving for some sushi, I suggest you try Genki Sushi.

Even though we were a group of 6 people, we sat comfortably in a booth. It should be noted that two in our group were my kids, aged 6 and 3. I would think 4 or 5 normal sized adults should be alright.

We got there around 6 ...

Honolulu's Local Fusion Cuisine

Nestled in the heart of downtown Honolulu Indigos Restaurant is an oasis of tropical ambiance, mouth-watering fusion cuisine, and one of the best happy hours in the islands.

The dimly lit red brick hallway at the entrance does little to prepare patrons for the Zen-like atmosphere within. The hovering white paper lanterns overhead add a warm glow to the dark wood furniture with Indonesian accents. In the Opium Den, the corner ...

How's it in Honolulu, The North Shore Experience

How's It in Honolulu, The North Shore Experience

Word of the day:  Mahalo

Translates to thank-you.  It's that simple.  Just say, "ma-hah-loe" to thank someone.

If you want to take a day trip away from the concrete and noise of Waikiki, jump in the car and head up to the North Shore of Oahu.  The "country" as locals call it, is just that.  Rural communities dot the shoreline and give you a genuine ...

Chinatown's Green Door Cafe - An Eating Experience

Downtown Chinatown boasts a variety of eateries. Popular places such as Little Village and Mini Garden provide a wide variety of Asian choices specifically altered to match the Caucasian taste buds. Pricey and often times overcrowded, The Green Door Café proves to be an excellent alternative.

The Green Door Café is located between Maunakea and Pauahi Street. It is towards the end of ...
