Genki Sushi Ala Moana-pretty good but be careful!
If you're shopping at the Ala Moana Center and have a craving for some sushi, I suggest you try Genki Sushi.
Even though we were a group of 6 people, we sat comfortably in a booth. It should be noted that two in our group were my kids, aged 6 and 3. I would think 4 or 5 normal sized adults should be alright.
We got there around 6 pm on a Wednesday night and waited 15 minutes for our table. This is pretty good for a Genki Sushi. I suggest going a little earlier, between 2 and 5 pm, or way earlier, 10-11am, to avoid long wait times.
Genki sushi is a kaiten sushi type restaurant meaning all sorts of sushi revolve on a conveyor belt and you pick one that you like. The sushi are set on color coded plates, each color being a set price. The more plates you have on your table, the more your bill will be. Prices vary from about 2 bucks to 5 per plate.
As you can imagine, it can get pretty pricey, so be wary of the stack of plates on your table. These are the sushi that our group recommends: garlic ahi, spicy tuna, yaki salmon, scallop mayo, and the hamachi. We also liked the dragon roll but didn't like the $5 dollar price.
The staff was pretty friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I would say it's a great place for a snack but here is where the warning comes in: if you're planning on a big dinner there, you better have a bigger wallet. The plates add up quickly. Our group didn't eat that much, yet our total was 81 bucks.
I heartily recommend Genki Sushi for a quick snack, and it's location in the Ala Moana Center is a big plus, just watch it if you're going there for dinner!
Genki Sushi is located on the mall level of Ala Moana center facing North, next to Tiffany's. http://www.genkisushiusa.com/
