Mokapuu Beach - The Hidden Gem
Oahu has several beaches.
All beautiful, all natural and all amazingly peaceful. However, my favorite beach is Mokapuu Beach. Its a hidden gem. Away from the usual tourist crowds and from the high school patrons, Mokapuu is excellent for some soul searching and personal time.
Located on the Southeast Coast , it is about 5 minutes pass Sandy Beach and about 2 miles away from the popular Hanauma Bay. More noticeably, it is just pass the light house. If you drive without looking to your right, Mokapuu is easily missed.
There is a small parking structure beside Mokapuu Beach but many cars are made to park on the slopes by the main road. You will need to walk down to the shore and it is enclaved by the coasts.
To make your trip worthwhile, remember to bring a comfortable beach chair or a straw mat. Mokapuu is ideal for a pinic or a get together. The waters are perfect for boogie boarding but not so for surfing. More so, bring that chair to watch the sunset. It an amazing sight!
