Zagat Guide Atlanta
Visitors to Decatur will find an impressive array of chic cafes and restaurants to explore. First-time visitors are often surprised to see the number of "Zagat Rated" signs in our restaurant's windows. While most people hold the misperception that they will have to travel into the City of Atlanta for amazing food, you could just as easily stay right here in Decatur and have a fantastically memorable epicurean adventure.
An exciting bonus is that you'll often pay a fraction of the cost to dine in Decatur rather than in neighboring Atlanta. This is a great option for travelers who might otherwise have just one or two "great meals" on their trip, otherwise subsisting on cheaper fare that is really "just food".
I'm continually amazed by the quality, presentation and sheer variety of cuisine located within walking distance of my home. And that's a huge bonus....I love that fun stroll to and from my destination, taking in the foliage, changing shop windows, and public art along the way.
And this is certainly one of those "you don't have to take my word for it" scenarios. The folks at Zagat agree. (Thank you, Zagat Guide, for taking the time to explore our town! I'm so thankful that your venerable guide helps our locally-owned favorites reach a broader audience!)
While I'm sometimes a bit surprised by their praise for certain locales, I'm often in complete agreement with Zagat's assessment of Decatur's hotspots. As I mentioned, most of these places are locally owned, and it's not at all unusual to be seated by a restaurant owner, which definitely adds an extra layer of warmth and care. And I'd like to offer them the same courtesy by not lumping them all together.
