Visiting Atlanta
Millions of visitors will travel to Atlanta this year. Most of them will traverse the crowded city, both blissful and ignorant of what lies just outside of the city-center. Don't get me wrong--Atlanta hosts some world-class attractions and amenities. But if you're the kind of traveler who would like to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, the answer lies just a couple of miles away.
The City of Decatur is Atlanta's closest neighbor, as well as its most colorful. Downtown Decatur is pedestrian-friendly, and an ideal place to while away an afternoon of shopping, dining and people-watching. Unlike its western neighbor, Decatur's dress code is casual-chic....think about the Hamptons rather than Manhattan. And while we're making comparisons, Decatur has that awesome satellite-city feel of, say, Evanston to Chicago, or Sausalito to San Francisco.
Cities like Decatur (or Evanston or Sausalito) have a great array of things to see and do, without the harried and frenetic pace of their city cousins. So if you are visiting Atlanta, be sure to take the beautiful tree-lined drive into Decatur and *really* get a feel for what this area is all about!
