Bars and Restaurants in Decatur, Brick Store Pub

Brick Store Pub

125 East Court Square, Decatur, GA 30030

One of my favorite places in Decatur is the Brick Store.  For beer geeks, there's just no other place where you'll feel as at home.  From the staff to the patrons, these folks know their suds.  You'll find an incredible array of beers on tap, some of the finest (and most potent) beers crafted from around the globe.  The Brick Store takes the word "pub" to a new level.  The atmosphere is somewhere between the European version of a pub and a chic loft space.  Two story ceilings top vast expanses of exposed brick walls, and the horseshoe-shaped bar provides ample opportunity to check out the crowd.

And what a crowd...the Brick Store is one of the most popular hangouts in Decatur.  You'll see students, professionals, artists...it's come-as-you-are or stop-by-after-a-big-event.  Upstairs at the Brick Store is the newest addition to the space, the Belgian Bar.  This smaller, attic-like space reminds me a lot of multi-level pubs in Ireland.  It's a very cool, cozy space.  As the name implies, this is where you'll find the Brick Store's stock of Belgian Beers, although staffers walk them down to be served in the main bar as well.

Brick Store's variety is amazing.  Their beer menu includes drafts and bottles, and comes in multiple pages on a flip-page clipboard.  Their wine list is a thing of joy.  I look forward to one day meeting the owner who plans the wine list....it's ever-changing, offers a great variety from around the globe, and ranges from affordable everyday wines to more pricey "treat yourself" offerings.  There's also a full bar for those looking for more of a kick, although Brick Store's variety of "high octane" beers should certainly do that!  Expect each beer to come in its own proper glassware, such as the Delerium Tremens (9%) served in a brandy snifter-like glass with dancing pink elephants.

For food, the Brick Store offers a tasty array of simple yet honest fare at great prices.  The ale fingers with their spicy mustard are a perennial favorite.  Brunswick stew warms the body on a cold day.  And their salads have all the tasty bells and whistles, such as dried cranberries, golden raisins, and goat cheese.  During the daylight hours, you'll find more families noshing at the Brick Store.  At night, it's a great mix of folks who are usually pretty willing to chat with random strangers.  So while you're visiting Decatur, don't miss out on a trip to the Brick Store.

The Brickstore PUb is one of my favorite bars in ATL. Everyone in town calls simply calls it "the pub." they pour a respectable guinness and i love their fish n chips.
