The New American Shakespeare Tavern

A few years ago my friends and I (both men and women) decided to do a little something different for Valentine's Day.
Okay, the truth is we all waited until the last minute to book our dinner reservations for Cupid's big night. And although we looked all over town, we couldn't find openings anywhere. In a panic for something to do, we came across this little place called "Shakespeare's Tavern." It was playing "Romeo and Juliet," and since nothing screams Valentine's Day quite like star-crossed lovers, we figured we'd give it a try. Besides, we didn't have anything else to do ... and there was no way it would be crowded.
How wrong we were!
From the moment we arrived we knew something was up. The place was packed! People were lined up outside just waiting to get in. After we descended the stairs into what appeared to be the basement of the building, we were greeted by dark wood, rich ruby-red tapestries, and sweet aromas escaping from the kitchen. The sets were beautiful, the acting impeccable, and the food delicious. This was unlike any theater we had ever been in. It seemed as if we had stepped back in time to "Fair Verona." The costumes were hand-crafted and the music was live. There were actual sword fights, and the actors literally were within arm's reach. At the back of the theater was the "Tavern," a true British pub with a menu of authentic pub foods, Irish ales, and other assorted drinks. It was by far one of the neatest things we ever did in this city.
They've since remodeled and renamed to The New American Shakespeare Tavern, and their productions are new and improved, as well. So if you're looking for something to do this Valentine's Day (or any other time of year, as the productions vary), feel free to check it out.
You won't be disappointed!
