The Highland Inn
The Highland Inn is located in the trendy Poncey Highland district of Atlanta. The neighborhood is filled with botiques, bars, upscale dining, and art galleries. Try out the adjacent Eclipse De Sol, or head up to Manuels Tavern to have drinks with the local off duty police department. Just around the corner on Ponce De Leon is the Plaza Theatre, a classic neon lit theatre specializing in more obscure art and foriegn movies, and the 24 hr Majestic Diner, an American Classic.
The hotel itself is filled with Old World, European style charm. The historic building is cozy, well kept, and wonderfully inexpensive, with continental breakfast and coffee served in the lobby every morning.
It is an older hotel, and definitely for the adventurous. The breakfast room is WIFI ready, and the location simply can't be beat. At an average of $68 per night, as well as weekly rates, the price just can't be beat. It is not what I would consider "upscale", and the picky traveller will not enjoy the hotel's quaint style.
Those who seek unquie experiences, off the beaten path, that truly reflects the individual personality of a city, will simply love it.
