Elmira's Wildlife Sanctuary

Quoted from Elmira's: "Over the past 10 years, the problem of exotic pets in un-exotic places has exploded. Lions and tigers are regularly found in apartments, houses and other residences where the owner has illegally purchased one of these beautiful animals. When the animal gets too big, or officials discover the animal, there is often nowhere to place it. Existing facilities are full and there is still not enough room. Through no fault of their own, these animals are homeless, suffer from poor nutrition and lack of exercise and receive no enrichment stimulation at all."

"Elmira's Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc., exists to help these animals and give them the best life possible. We provide food, health care, shelter and enrichment to lions, tigers, bears, leopards, wolves, parrots, cockatoos and a variety of other wildlife."

Elmira's is now open to the public on Saturdays - they do tours at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Minimum donation is $10.00 per adult and $5.00 per child 12 and under. It's a fun way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon, and great entertainment and education for kids and adults alike!

Elmira's is located on West Lake Drive in Wimauma. Take a ride down and have some fun!
