Tampa Bay Devil Rays - Opening Night 2007
Tampa Bay's Boys of Spring are back!
This year is the 10th anniversary of Major League Baseball in Tampa Bay, and Friday, April 6th is the Devil Rays' home opener at Tropicana Field. The game is at 7:10 pm against the Toronto Blue Jays, and gates open at 4:30 pm.
Like all home openers, there will be the much anticipated fanfare including two give-aways as soon as fans enter the park. Each fan will receive a Rays Thermal Mug presented by Checkers and a Schedule Magnet presented by Tropicana.
The house of the Devil Rays, Tropicana Field, is a unique indoor stadium with a lot to offer fans besides great seats:
- The Rays Touch Tank is located just behind the right centerfield wall. In a partnership with the Florida Aquarium, there are over 30 cownose rays that fans can touch and feed throughout the game.
- Left Field Streetis a fan favorite! Fans can participate in a baseball-themed game show, take their picture on a Topps baseball card, have their name inscribed onto a Louisville Slugger bat, touch and feel real game-used equipment and broadcast play-by-play of baseball highlights. The Mountain Dew Extreme Zone is where fans can play stickball in an area that is designed to resemble a New York street alley. Fans can also enjoy the latest modern baseball video games or play video games from Nintendo and Atari.
- Right Field Street includes numerous activities such as fans can take their swings against computer images of real Major League pitchers in a batting cage or test their arms in the speed pitch. Also, in Right Field Street there the areas of "Bats, Balls and Brushes", "St. Petersburg Times Pressbox" and "The Science of Baseball."
Tropicana Field also has a cigar bar, a restaurant, two pubs, a Rays team store and several different types of food and drink vendors.
Added bonuses include fans being allowed to bring food and beverages of their own into the stadium and FREE stadium parking.
