Tampa Bay Drinking on a Budget!
Are you looking for the hookup on cheap drinks? Well, as a seasoned drinker and cheapskate, here are my suggestions.
Monday nights can be spent at Bricktown where you can receive $1 drinks. Bricktown is located in Clearwater right on McMullen Booth Road and SR 590. Cover is $5 for ladies and $7 for men. You must be 21 and up and have the proper identification and dress code. Doors open at 9PM, so get there early to get your cheap drink on.
Tuesday nights should feature Red Fish Blue Fish. A restaurant located at 2901 Alternate 19 N in Palm Harbor, the bar atmosphere is great for meeting new people and hanging out with old friends. There is a deck with live music every night, and the crowd is mostly locals. Ladies drink for free on Tuesdays, so that should be a major reason for someone like yourself to check it out. Now that the weather is nice and warm, spending the night here at Red Fish seems like a perfect getaway from all your weekly responsibilities.
Wednesday night should only ever be spent at one of the four Green Iguana locations. Dollar drinks are the major attraction here, and each location has its own perks. The Ybor location on 7th Avenue has indoor and some outdoor seating. Inside there is a live band and in the connecting room, a DJ playing dance music. The crowd is generally the "after work older than 25" type, and the cheap drinks make for excellent company. The Anderson Road location is the largest and my personal favorite. There is a very large inside with a DJ playing dance music. The outside, also very large, sports a live band as well as a lake front view and a bonfire. By midnight this location is slammed with young people, especially during college breaks or summer. Green Iguana also has locations on Westshore Blvd. in Tampa and in St. Pete.
Thursday can be spent at a location of your choice, however, my suggestion is Ybor. It is College Night, so if you are older than 25, I would not recommend it. There are plenty of drink specials all up and down the 7th Avenue strip. From ladies drinking free until midnight at Prana to $3 drinks for everyone at Amphitheater, there is something for everyone.
Fridays should always be spent at Channelside. Dinner at Hooters or Bennigans and then a trip to Banana Joes is always on my To Do list. Ladies drink free at Banana Joes until midnight, and for a Friday night, that is an excellent deal. Most places do not have drink specials on a Friday night, as it is usually their busiest night. Banana Joe's has the luxury of being connected to three other hot night spots in Channelside, so one cover gets you into four venues. Slingshots is the country bar, The Velvet Room plays a variety of music, and Margarita Mama's features a nice bar outside.
Saturdays... good luck drinking on a budget here. If you find some place cheap, let me know!
