Busch Gardens Lately
Busch Gardens has been known to the Tampa Bay area for quite a while, dazzling residents and tourists with its fear-inducing thrill rides, family friendly animal attractions, and specialty shows. This season will no doubt hold up to the tradition that Busch Gardens has set.
The latest roller coaster to wow guests is SheiKra. Anxious riders go 200 feet at 45 degrees, before being held face first above the ground for what feels like the longest seconds of your life. The coaster then takes you 70 mph back toward the ground at a 90-degree angle. Busch Gardens says that it is the first coaster of its kind in this country and only the third in the world.
This ride was already frighteningly fun, but Busch Gardens is going to take it to the next level. After Memorial Day, they are closing the ride down for three weeks to remove the floors. Yes, this ride will now be “floorless” and psychologically make people even more afraid of the 90-degree plunge. No longer will you be able to use the floor to brace yourself against the upcoming dip. Instead, your feet will dangle and you will feel at the mercy of the force that is SheiKra.
While you are experiencing SheiKra while it still has a floor, be sure to check out the Irish dance and music show at the Desert Grill now through April 15th. Also, for the best in Latin music check out Viva la Musica. On March 18th La India performs, March 25th brings El Gran Combo, and Paulina Rubio closes out the festival on April 1st. All shows are included with your park ticket.
