Market Fresh
For a local but gourmet market pop on over to the Fresh Market. A favorite in Carrollwood for years, located on Dale Mabry they have recently opened a South Tampa location as well, this one on Henderson. Last night I stopped in during the after-work rush and picked up a smattering of to-go tubs. All fresh food, hence the name, with good variety each day. We got egg rolls, BBQ wings, a caprese stack, tortellini salad and wild rice. A mix of food no doubt. Which is what makes it a great place. But we chose small samples of each to pick at. You can opt for normal sized portions and for more standard meal selections including lasagna, grilled chicken breasts, and meat loaf. Not to mention the full meat and seafood counter. But for a quick bite or a nice picnic idea, the to-go counter is perfect. There is an entire fresh fruit and vegetable section, a bakery for cakes, pastries and breads and a small section where daily needs and goods can be purchased on the fly. Oh and alcohol of course. That goes without saying. You can do the entire meal there, no problem. A wonderful place to plan an evening meal or a romantic night in. Or even an afternoon at the movies. No you can't carry in their delicious homemade hummus, but they have an insane candy aisle. Which is not even an aisle but an entire section occupying close to half the store. Every kind and variety you ever would want. And more. Try the fried vegetables. I know an oxy moron, but awesome. All are perfect for stowing in your purse and sneaking into the theater. Though it is not cheap and aside from the variety it may be as costly as the Muvico. Overall that is the trend. But the food is fresh and crisp. The variety is unmatched, where else are you going to find a row of cheeses? And the location is convenient to many. They also will do catering. Check out their menus and ask at the stores.
