In celebration of the Academy Awards it is time to rent some movies that were filmed here . Ocean's Eleven shot scenes at Derby Lane. Come and follow in the footsteps of Brad Pitt and George Clooney as you enjoy watch live action dog racing now through June 30. When not featuring live races there is still simulcasting and poker as well as dining in the Derby club.
Leathal Weapon 3 showed off our beautiful downtown. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are shown running from a building as it explodes. They featured the implosion of a building that was scheduled to be removed. Since that movie was shot downtown has exploded with the addition of Baywalk. This area features an assortment of restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Dan Marino's Fine Food, Wet Willies Daiquire Bar, Johnny Rockets are just a few of the dining opportunities available. Muvico 20 Theaters is located in the middle of Baywalk. Whether you are looking for clothes or a souvenier, shopping experiences vary from small boutiques to name brand chains.
Of all the many films shot in our area the one that showcased us best was Summer Rental. John Candy and his movie family enjoyed our beautiful sugar white beaches and the amazing Gulf waters.
While so much of the country is currently in the grips of snow and frigid temperatures we are experiencing postcard perfect sunshine and temperatures in the mid to upper 70's. We measure our winter in hours, not months or even weeks. St. Petersburg is a paradise welcoming everyone, offering a variety of accommodations, attractions, and events.
