One of Orlando's Hot Spots
Citywalk is indeed one of Orlando's top ten hot spots. Located just off Interstate 4 (exit 74 B) on Universal Blvd., Citywalk is nestled in between Universal's two theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures. Not only does Citywalk include restaurants and bars, but one can also enjoy nightly bands, shopping, a movie theater, boats, and scenic walkways.
To get to Citywalk one must first follow the signs for Universal Orlando. Just off the highway you will begin to see helpful signs pointing you in the right direction. These signs will lead you to 2 parking garages, where you will park, and then use moving sidewalks to first enter Citywalk. If you are planning on going to the theme parks during the day, then Citywalk at night, you can follow the same route and simply walk through Citywalk and continue to the right at the Fossil brand store for Universal Studios and keep walking straight to get to Islands of Adventures.
Once in Citywalk you can chose between a multitude of restaurants-- Nascar Cafe, Hard Rock, Pastamore, Margaritaville, even Starbucks and Cinnabuns. There are also many stores - Fossil, Cigarz, Roxy, and Universal Orlando Merchandise. Citywalk also boasts many beautiful clubs - the Groove and Red Coconut Club being my favorite. These clubs sometimes do have a higher admission price ($8-$10) but with your theme park or annual pass ticket you can get in for free. The high price to me is also worth it because not only are the clubs beautiful, but they are clean, and honestly the people inside the clubs are not as weird or creepy as ones you might see in downtown clubs. Citywalk also has its own AMC theater. The lines outside are sometimes long but I've never had to wait at the concessions inside. For some reason they always seem to have 500 people staffed at concessions and I usually just walk right up. This theater also boasts its own bar complete with the ever delicious Oreo Mudslides.
Citywalk can be fun for the whole family - bars like Pat O'Briens, Clubs like the Groove, restaurants like Margaritaville, and nightly entertainment, while including games and a carousel located just by the water for the kids. The one downside to Citywalk is that to park in the parking garages to enter Citywalk does cost about $10. Even if you just want to eat at Hard Rock and not visit the theme parks at all, the parking fee is still $10. AMC used to reimburse patrons but they discontinued this practice a couple of months ago. The good news though is parking is free for everyone after 6 pm.
