The Best Pizza in Orlando - From a Transplanted New Yorker
When we first moved to Florida we were desperate for good pizza. Sure we tried the Papa Johns and Pizza Hut route, but lets just say we were disgusted by what we received. I would not go so far as to call it Pizza even, at least not to a New Yorker! One day my mother and I were headed to get our hair appointments when the smell of something so wonderful caught our noses ... pizza?? We were sure it smelled like it, but could it really be like New York pizza? We were so excited, we went to grab slice immediately after we were done! Yes, it was in fact delicious! We would even go as far as to say better than New York because there is far less grease. I know some people crave it, but the good cheese really should not cause massive grease, so it is definitately a good thing!
Where can you find a little slice of heaven? Anthony's Pizza, be forewarned there are only two locations. Do not be fooled by others. While there is a take out and delivery location on the corner of Mills and Colonial, 407.898.797, I highly recommend you head to their Thornton Park Cafe location on the corner of Summerlind and Washington, 407.648.0009. Somehow the pizza tastes just a bit more amazing there! The owner of Anthony's started his pizza career in New York City, so he too is the real deal!
The crust is nice and thin on the regular pies and the sicilian is thick and yummy! Don't stop at their pizza either, the calamari is amazing as is just about every other dish we have tried. It is our favorite place to bring fellow transplanted New Yorkers, no one is ever disappointed!
They have a really nice outside seating area as well, the only negative is that they allow smoking outside. If you are lucky enough to have no smokers, you can really sit and enjoy a wonderful meal while enjoying the local sites!
Try it for yourself and let me know what you think! Don't forget to check Anthony's on the web at www.anthonyspizza.com! Mangia!
