If you have decided to visit Denver, congratulations. Since you've taken the time and effort to plan this trip, don't cheat yourself by not adding a short 35 minute drive to Boulder. The Real 4th Meal

For the night owl (they're actually open 24 hours so go anytime), there is no place better to end your night than at Pete's Kitchen.

When the final club closes and the partiers need something to eat, Pete's is the place. Not only is the food great, but you can never tell who will be sitting in the booth next to you. Maybe you favorite Bronco ...

Spanish Tapas and Cavas in Denver at the 9th Door

So, I love Spain - that is why I am so excited about the 9th Door in LoDo, Denver's first and only tapas bar.   I went last Tuesday night to enjoy a live flamenco guitar group, sip great wine, and sample some of the tapas.  If you aren't yet familiar with tapas - you will love them.  In Spain, tapas are served as appetizers that usually accompany sherry or other aperitifs and ...

Pappadeaux's: Where Fresh Meets Festive

The only thing I could think of as I finished my meal at Pappadeaux's was why it took me so long to walk through its front doors.  A short drive south of Downtown Denver, any visitor can find this catch of the city. A Creole style menu complete with a fitting ambiance greets hungry seafood lovers.

I have to admit that I didn't try the famous boiled crawfish, but I did ...

Best Mexican Restaurants in Denver (The Intro)

Mexican foodWhen I moved to Denver a few years ago, I wasn't very big on Mexican cuisine.  However, since my wife loves it, and after countless shots of various tequilas and mezcals, I've had a change of heart.  Over the next few weeks, I'll take you to some of my favorite Denver-area restaurants where we'll sample the food and enjoy some tequila!

Some of my favorite places that ...

Mercury Café: An Organic Gem

There is a hidden treasure in Denver located a few blocks from the bustle of downtown and it’s called the Mercury café. The restaurant and neighborhood attraction has been at their California Street address since 1990 and proudly boasts a diverse menu of organic foods. Okay, I realize this may seem out of the ordinary. However, this city blog will be chalk full of steak houses and ...

The 16th Street Mall

It’s a luxury for a city to have a focal point such as Denver’s 16th Street Mall. The popular strip built in 1982 is home to hotels, office buildings (including Denver’s World Trade Center), residential units, restaurants, cafes, bars and more.

On any given day you can buy anything from a loaded potato to a “How’s Your Aspen” T-Shirt from one of the many vendors. Wary travelers can ...

Where To Find Authentic "Denver" Cuisine in Denver

Everyone is aware that the Denver Omelette originated in Denver, but it is likely that few know that Denver also claims to have originated the first cheeseburger.  Yet omelettes and cheeseburgers do not a cuisine make.  If one had to define "authentic" Denver faire, it would have to be the food that defined Denver in its early "frontier" days, the most famous dish of which is the nearly legendary "Rocky Mountain Oysters."

To ...
