So, I love Spain - that is why I am so excited about the 9th Door in LoDo, Denver's first and only tapas bar. I went last Tuesday night to enjoy a live flamenco guitar group, sip great wine, and sample some of the tapas. If you aren't yet familiar with tapas - you will love them. In Spain, tapas are served as appetizers that usually accompany sherry or other aperitifs and ...

Denver has been home to Hootenannies for years, beginning with original Folklore Center, where music lovers would hang out, play music, swap songs, socialize, tell tales and while away the evenings in a haze of good music and good company. Now, the Denver Folk Center invites you to their hootenannies, a combination open stage, mass sing-a-long and groovin' good time, in the cozy Tuft Theater, the hootenanny is set up like ...

The U.S. Mint in Denver is one of six operated in the United States. Others are in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, West Point, NY; Fort Knox, KY; and San Francisco, CA.
The Denver Mint, in downtown Denver was closed after 911. I stopped by the Mint with my god son in from Minnesota, and we were turned away by armed guards. I was disappointed because Maxie didn't ...

When I moved to Denver a few years ago, I wasn't very big on Mexican cuisine. However, since my wife loves it, and after countless shots of various tequilas and mezcals, I've had a change of heart. Over the next few weeks, I'll take you to some of my favorite Denver-area restaurants where we'll sample the food and enjoy some tequila!
Some of my favorite places that ...

It’s a luxury for a city to have a focal point such as Denver’s 16th Street Mall. The popular strip built in 1982 is home to hotels, office buildings (including Denver’s World Trade Center), residential units, restaurants, cafes, bars and more.
On any given day you can buy anything from a loaded potato to a “How’s Your Aspen” T-Shirt from one of the many vendors. Wary travelers can ...

In light of recent events concerning food poisoning with various Menu Foods pet food products, may I suggest some healthier organic options for Fifi and Fido:
My cat really likes Newman's Own Organics, and it's the cheapest of the bunch while still being pricey. The cost of one 25-pound bag of its 70% organic dog food is almost $40. Natura Pet Products makes a 95% organic brand dubbed Karma that "fetches" (you like ...

3 suggestions: The Celtic, Irish Snug, LoDo's
The Celtic: great atmosphere, but downtown parking is as much fun as cafeteria leftovers. It has a very "pub" feel to it. I have expect to step outside and see a castle on a picturesque mountainside. There's also a divine cherry and whipped cream dessert there. Is that traditional Irish faire? Who cares, it's really really good. PS to my fellow singles: on Tuesdays ...
