One of the many wonderfully unique attributes of Denver and Colorado as a whole is our collective love of animals. People love their dogs, their cats, their horses, you name it. It's a state for animal lovers, and it's easily one of the more dog-friendly urban areas in the country.
If you are one of the many animal supporters here in town, check out the Colorado Pet Expo, this ...

Do it! Okay, let me backtrack a little. I have never tried snowshoeing prior to this weekend. On Sunday I found myself at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch. Amazing hotel with a ski lift in your backyard and trails galore. So, I head to the pro shop, and $15 later am strapping some funky contraptions to my feet.
Off we go!
I was under the impression snowshoeing was "just hiking in the snow." ...

Be sure to pick up today's Denver Post to get your copy of Colorado Eats 2007, or check out the online version here. It's an expansive look at restaurants in and around the Denver area, as well the suburbs, the front range, and the high country. Those familiar with Denver's culinary scene might notice some omissions of great dining venues, but the value of this guide ...

Since this is the 4,758th straight day that Denver has had snow cover (actually, it's 60+ days, closing in on the all-time record), and since much of the rest of the country is in the midst of a winter storm, it seems appropriate to give a little run down of random reasons why you shouldn't be completely annoyed and disgusted by the continuing ...

As Julie Dunn reported last week in the Denver Post, a new ski area in close proximity to the Denver metro area is expected to open by next winter. Michael Coors, yes, that Coors, is planning to open the nearly 300-acre Eclipse Snow Park on the site of what used to be St. Mary's ski area. The park sounds like it will be geared towards the younger set, the grommers and shredders and ...

Like the sign on its web site says, Vita is a terrific place to eat, drink, and live--even if you're just visiting. Located in Lower Highlands at 1575 Boulder Street, just west of the Platte River, Vita is a bit removed from the fracas of LoDo, but still a short cab ride or nice walk from central Denver. Offering up some innovative modern dishes with a distinctly Italian flare, ...

While Denver may not be able to compete with the New Yorks of the world in the culinary arena, the Mile High City is however home to an underestimated assortment of great restaurants and terrific chefs. You can explore many of them during Denver Restaurant Week, from February 24 to March 2. From newly established sophisticated urban eateries to classic local favorites, dozens and dozens of Denver area restaurants ...

If you find yourself in the Mile High City on Valentine’s Day, here are a few suggestions for where to take and what to do with that special someone. These may not be the most romantic ideas you’ve ever heard (I'm a guy, what did you expect?), but you’ll be sure to have a good time.
Vesta Dipping Grill: The quintessential hip urban eatery. You’ll be cooler for having dined here. ...

I am certainly no art expert, but fortunately you don’t have to be to enjoy and appreciate the Denver Art Museum.
The Denver Art Museum (DAM) anchors the city’s Golden Triangle Museum District, along with other interesting stops such as the Colorado History Museum, the Molly Brown House, the Byer-Evans House, and the Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art.
DAM, however, is really the cornerstone of this area, particularly ...

With family in town this week, it's been a great opportunity to check out their digs downtown at The Oxford Hotel. It has the feel of an old hotel that you're more likely to find in Chicago or Boston, rather than Denver.
Located in LoDo, at 17th and Wazee, The Oxford Hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places, and has been around since 1891. It's quaint, comfortable, and ...
