Spanish Tapas and Cavas in Denver at the 9th Door

So, I love Spain - that is why I am so excited about the 9th Door in LoDo, Denver's first and only tapas bar.   I went last Tuesday night to enjoy a live flamenco guitar group, sip great wine, and sample some of the tapas.  If you aren't yet familiar with tapas - you will love them.  In Spain, tapas are served as appetizers that usually accompany sherry or other aperitifs and cocktails.   At the 9th Door, you can enjoy them as a meal.  The wine list is spectacular - mainly focusing on Spanish and South American wines.  And don't forget to try cavas, the sparkling wine originating from Spain.

The 9th Door has great ambience, I truly felt as if I might be in Spain with the dark, dimly lit interior and the red velvet uphostered sofas and dark wood.  The bar is fabulous and the interior design is well done.  This is a truly romantic atmosphere - perfect for two, but also great for a group of friends.  We even had the luck to witness a true flamenco dancer improvise with the band - turns out she's from Oviedo, Spain and a local flamenco teacher.  Wow! How cool is that!

Happy Hour is Monday - Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30.? Visit their website for more info on events and the menu: http://www.the9thdoor.com/events.html
