Best Mexican Restaurants in Denver (The Intro)

Mexican foodWhen I moved to Denver a few years ago, I wasn't very big on Mexican cuisine.  However, since my wife loves it, and after countless shots of various tequilas and mezcals, I've had a change of heart.  Over the next few weeks, I'll take you to some of my favorite Denver-area restaurants where we'll sample the food and enjoy some tequila!

Some of my favorite places that we'll be hitting are:

the Blue Bonnet

Mezcal

Senor Pepes

Benny's

If you have any suggestions about other places I should try out, drop me a line!

I feel sorry for you. I just read your article on where to go for mexican food in denver. It is evident that you did not grow up eating mexican food. The Bluebonnet and Benny's is what I would call attempts by people from Colorado at Mexican food. Mexican food is not everything smothered in green chile! If you want some good mexican food try out La Cueva or La Lomas. Or try out Tacos Jalisco on 38th, where they don't even really speak english. La Cueva has probably the best margaritas in town. Just ask Patti to make you a suprema and sit back and think you are in Mexico! Please don't tell people from other cities that Bluebonnet is good mexican food. Anyone can put a dish in a microwave and bring it out and call it mexican.
