Top Ten Things to Do in Denver on Valentine’s Day
If you find yourself in the Mile High City on Valentine’s Day, here are a few suggestions for where to take and what to do with that special someone. These may not be the most romantic ideas you’ve ever heard (I'm a guy, what did you expect?), but you’ll be sure to have a good time.
Vesta Dipping Grill: The quintessential hip urban eatery. You’ll be cooler for having dined here. Great food, excellent atmosphere, and a terrific place to cozy up with your honey and give your taste buds a treat.
Sullivan’s: Classy, elegant, contemporary, and still a little bit old school. Enjoy the mouth-watering steaks, any which way you like them prepared, including Oscar-style, along with an expansive wine list, exceptional cocktails, and a little jazz music in the background to set the mood.
Peaks Lounge: Located on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency, the jaw-dropping views will make your wine and cheese flights, your cocktails, and your company all the more enticing.
Denver Center for Performing Arts: Whether it’s Shakespeare or an improve workshop, the theatre is a great place to spend an evening with the one you love.
Starz Film Center at the Tivoli: For a quiet evening with the missus or the mister, take in a non-blockbuster move at the Starz Film Center theatre, on the Auraria campus. Great independent and art house movies, and the popcorn isn’t too shabby either. Also, check out the "Party with Oscar" in late February.
The Fillmore: If live music is your thing, venues don’t get much better than this. Check out the Shins on Feb. 15th, or any number of other great music venues in the Denver area, such as the Ogden, the Grizzly Rose, the Bluebird, and so many more.
Mise En Place: Take a cooking class right in LoDo or just feast on some fantastic food. Either way, it’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon or evening with your date.
El Chapultepec: If you want to get your hands (or rather your feet) a little dirty, be sure to head to El Chapultapec in the heart of LoDo. Follow in the footsteps of greats like Sinatra, Jagger, Paul McCartney, and Ella Fitzgerald, and hang out at Denver’s best live-jazz bar. But fair warning—it gets crowded, it gets loud, but it’s as much fun as you can handle.
Give Blood: Not Dracula style or anything like that, but donate blood to the American Red Cross. What’s more heartfelt than saving a life? Plus, you can buy special red emblazoned jewelry from the Red Cross for Valentine’s Day, such as a crystal boutique necklace for her or deco cloisonné cufflinks for him.
The Brown Palace Hotel Dom Perignon Champagne Sunday Brunch: Words cannot describe. Just make your reservation and go. You’ll thank me later.
