Dave Brubeck at San Francisco's Masonic Auditorium



Everyone knows the opening lines of Dave Brubeck's Take Five - Dave Brubeck

With its swinging 5/4 time signature it also became the signature piece for the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

A local boy, Brubeck was born in the East Bay town of Concord on December 6th, 1920. His career has spanned generations and musical styles and is still an important influence in American music to this day. In September of last year Brubeck debuted the Cannery Row Suite at the Monterey Jazz Festival.

This Sunday, April 15, Brubeck will be appearing at the Masonic Auditorium, located atop Nob Hill at 1111 California Street between Jones and Taylor, and directly across the street from Grace Cathedral. Brubeck will perform a set with his quartet and a big band performance of his Elementals Suite. Showtime is 7PM.
